| Re: What Did You Just Finish? Indeed, when one considers the detailed accounts of abuse and other traumas proliferated by the current trendy Mis Lit, Brand's book is like a journey to a sweetshop. |

In broad cultural terms, Family Guy has yet to have a major impact on literature, films, art and so on.
Speaking of silliness, I just finished reading Russell brand's 'My Booky Wook'. I have always disliked the guy but actually really enjoyed the book. A very funny, light read, and in that category it gets 4/5 from me. | Yer an idiot.

You can't on one hand espose the cultural merits of 'Family Guy', then turn around and criticise an individual's taste.
Sort of contradicts your whole post modern ideology. Perhaps get your own mind set (and vocabulary) straight first eh? |

| Re: What Did You Just Finish? Anyway. I just finished All Families are Psychotic by Douglas Coupland. Load of shit. Dunno what I was expecting, something a bit more rooted in reality, with less wackiness but I didn't enjoy this (partly my fault of course). A fairly terrible wacky races type 'find the golden' ticket plot with shreds of maternity, mortality and identity themes through-out (though without going into any of the themes with any real sense or purpose or insight). I really disliked this book, though it was only 300 pages and very easy to read (plot heavy). 0/5.

Quite good this. Really what Chuck should be if he wasn't so obsessed with nihilism and Easton-Ellis-esque understated gross-out. Fun, quirky, disturbing read this. Quick too. 5 out of 6.

I think that was it's title. Nice graphic novel I guess. Didn't really care about anything in it. Meh. 2.5/5.

| Re: What Did You Just Finish? I just finished "The Time Traverler's Wife", by Audrey Niffeneger. I get the impression it's one of those books EVERYONE has read, I loved it though. Very convincing for a love story about time travel.
I also just read "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards. It was great if slightly unrealistic/ overcooked at the end, but I found it really interesting as my Gran gave birth to a Down's child in the 60's and can vouch for a lot of the attitudes at the time.
