I'm about a quarter of the way through it.
Anyone read it?

| Re: Catch 22 Yes. Every single woman characters a prostitute or whore in it, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your outlook i guess. My favourite is....'Nateleys' (i think its nateleys, i may be wrong as its years since i read it) whore who apears with Snoopy like randomness to attack Yossarian. Superb.

| Re: Catch 22 it can be a laborious read at times, but when it clicks with you it really clicks. i was a little disappointed by it after the hype i'd had from people before i got it, but it's a good novel nonetheless. i still prefer Captain Corelli's Mandolin though.

i really loved all the characters in catch 22. I think my favourites were Orr and the Chaplain. Tis a damn fine book, i didnt think i was going to like at all when i started to read it but i became hooked. And i agree that Captain Corelli's Mandolin is rather good book. Much better than the film. I also read The Virgin Suicides in about three days id recomend it.

| Re: Catch 22 Catch-22 is possibly the best peice of American lit other then Fear and Loathing. The last four or five chapters are a total mindfuck though. The film is quite good as well, and I prefer the film ending to the book ending.
Anyone read the sequel, Closing Time? |

| Re: Catch 22 Absolute work of genius. The impact is obviously huge, and its almost hard to conceive a world in which people do not refer to catch 22 situations. The characters are amazing, and for once I genuinely like the main character. Quite often either I read books in which we are not meant to (Duncan Thaw in Lanark) or they prove so annoying it defies belief (despite my holding Battle Royale in my top 3 books, Shuya and Noriko qualify here). However, my favourite character is actually Miles, I think. The way he exploits everything is amazingly funny. I also love Doc Daneeka, the Chaplain, and Major Major Major.
