I have just discovered this guy thanks to amazon recommendations. His style is very much like the cyberpunk of stephenson except much faster and many times more unforgiving. His first novel that i read called altered carbon was an excellent murder mystery set in the 3000's if i remember rightly. The protaganist takeshi kovacs is an ex envoy commando (elite earth spec ops) who has fallen on harsh times and is offered an oppurtunity to redeem his crimes if he solves an apparent suicide. from this point the plot has a multitude of twists and turns and keeps you interested right to the end. After reading this i immediatly bought the follow up Broken Angels which was good but not a patch on the first. I also bought his newest novel market forces which i loved. it is set in near future london and focuses on a group of road warrior corporates. Anyone who has played cyberpunk will love this book as it gives you a marvellous scenario for a corporate team. Iwould say anyone would enjoy these great novels but if you like gibson or stephenson you will find this guy has a refreshing new approach.
I also found out that he is a glasweigian and lectures at strathclyde uni which was interesting.
