It's slightly related, and usually in the same section of the bookstore, but try The Code Book by Simon Singh - or Fermat's Enigma (also by Mr. Singh)
The Code Book is a breakdown of cryptography over the years (and since cryptography generally just turns into number crunching, a hefty amount of math is utilized)
Fermat's Enigma tells the tale of the professor that solved Fermat's last theorem, something that stumped the mathematical world for about 3 centuries.
If those are too heady, I'd also recommend anything that dives into Fibonacci sequences and how they relate to life, the universe, and everything...such as Fascinating Fibonaccis: Mystery and Magic in Numbers (

Fibonacci (otherwise known as the Golden Ratio, or Golden Mean) has been respected for centuries by many different cultures. in Colin Wilson and Rand Flem-Ath's "The Atlantis Blueprint: Unlocking the Ancient Mysteries of a Long-Lost Civilization" there is much discussion and pointing out of how often the Fibonacci sequence occurs through patterns of religious sites in England, Scotland, South America, and Egypt
