| Bloody Family Members Borrowing Books And Not Returning Them!!!!! im starting to feel like a library here, i went into my sisters house yetserday in search of one of my books and found no less than FOUR sitting in her wardrobe:
we need to talk about kevin- lionel shriver
privelage of youth- dave pelzer
the curious incident of the dog in the night time - mark haddon
the da vinci code- dan brown
also she was reading angels and demons
then went in to my nephews room and found ALL of MY harry potter books
now should i start charging people for the late return of books?
i wouldnt botherbut in the past couple of months ive wanted to read at least three of those books again

| Re: Bloody Family Members Borrowing Books And Not Returning Them!!!!! That's annoying, certainly, but it could be worse.
My sister just came back from holiday, and returned my copy of 'One flew over the cuckoo's nest'. Except for the first 34 pages, which apparently ended up in the pool after the heat melted the glue, and then there was a gust of wind.
I'm not as raging as I expected I'd be, and it did apparently happen to everyone there. Although one wag picked a random page out of the pool and shouted "Hey, Snape kills Dumbledore! (that's a Harry Potter VI spoiler, btw) |

| Re: Bloody Family Members Borrowing Books And Not Returning Them!!!!! I found my copy of Lovely Bones with the cover all mangled to shreds, it'd gotten wet as well and the pages were all crinkly and the ink was all running off some pages, when I asked her what the fuck she did to it, she said, "oh was that yours? I thought it was just the library's"
Shocking attitude from someone I'd expect much more from. |

When I was a kid there was one I bought and never touched again cos it legit had dried nose-contents all down the first page. I'd been pure looking forward to reading it as well. |

| Re: Bloody Family Members Borrowing Books And Not Returning Them!!!!! What I do, is I very carefully razor out the last page in all my books, and keep them in a ring binder - Alphabetised by author, then title.
Then, when someone borrows a book, they only get the last page handed over when they bring the book back to me.
They read that in my presence, return it - And all is well!
For particularly long books, I'll have a series of "Checkpoint" pages spaced out through the book at vital plot points. |
