| Writer's block * claws skull *
* gasps for breath *
I have severe writer's block. I've had it for months now and it's really pissing me off. I can't start anything without thinking it's utter dross or I have a great idea, sit down to write it and suddenly my noggin is a blank
Arse.
Does anyone out there have any tips or writing excercises or summat that could help get the 'ol "typewriter" goin again? |

| Re: Writer's block This one might sound daft but my pal says it usually works for her.
Basically, when she has writers block she sometimes starts a chain story with some of her friends. She writes alot of fantasy stuff so the chain story is normally a spoof story with a fantasy theme that goes round all the friends to add their parts and she normally ends up with a really funny story.
She doesn't use the chain story for anything but she says it helps to get her thinking about new ideas and it at least means that she is writing again, even if it is a load of nonsense. |

| Re: Writer's block I use the same kind of thing.
One line stories with a few mates who also enjoyed writing. Each person wrote a line adding to the story. It brought up a few ideas as you wrote. The liquidity of the approach meant that the "story" was rarely good reading but we all got ideas from this approach.
Might help?

| Re: Writer's block Aww.
You should though, the ego-boosts you get from 'em are a good incentive to write more. Spose that could be a way for CP to combat writer's block.
That said, I've got the bastard too. I know exactly what my next piece'll be about, I just can't be arsed knuckling down to it. On the rare occasions I do, I just write mince. |

| Re: Writer's block I don't know because I don't write but what about maybe reading some of Shakespeare's stuff again and some of the great poets. The imagery of some of that stuff can sometimes refresh the mind |
