As for her becoming an other, it's probably as straightforward as she was abducted when they were trying to get back to the beach camp, then was subjected to the brain-washing that Carl (is that his name?) had in season 3.

I don't even know where to start...

Did they ever explain the whole people get sick on the island thing? Rousseus crew were meant to have gotten ill/crazy and the Dharma folks thought they needed a vaccine, but none of the new survivors got ill... and how come Claire didn't die like all the other pregnant women?

I really couldn't remember what happened so before watching Season 4 I watched this, seriously hilarious and in hind sight could've saved me a lot of time!

Was Dan saying that if Des spoke to someone he loved then the flash forwards would stop? So then why would Des be Dans constant? Cos Dan doesnt love Des and Dans not having flash forwards?

Nah he just said he needed a constant, didn't have to be a person, but something that was present in both his past and future, hence the word "constant"

If Dan did get the condition, Des came to see him in the past and is also in his future, so Des can be Dan's constant.

Were the Polar Bears not there because the Dharma initiative had a zoo there at hydra and they escaped from there, is it not as simple as that?

The Hydra was on the other island, though I guess they can swim. Doesn't quite explain the Hydra logo on the collar of the polar bear that Charlotte found in Tunisia though!
