Oh right, it's just that you've completely missed the point of what Scientology is[1] and how it damages people. Fair enough. Continue grousing.

[1]And what a peaceful protest is, for that matter.

Nobody's protesting against anyone's religious beliefs. It's the core attitude that's under attack.

That and the fact that he sees our fun comparable to the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany.

Yes, because no other religion damages people in any way....

Explain to me exactly what the 'core attitude' is, and how it differs from any other religion please.

The church of scientology wishes to erradicate psychiatrists and psychologists from the face of the Earth deeming them criminals.

I think I might have a wee touch of justification in peacefully protesting this.

If asked what my crimes are I think I may reply with any or all of the following:-

Still doesn't make it a fair comparison.

Also, I was under the illusion that if you had issue with something, be it a religion or otherwise, you had the right to make peaceful protest.

I could write "SCIENTOLOGY IS NOT A RELIGION" in a really big font if it would help to get the point across.

The Church of Scientology is a vicious and dangerous cult that masquerades as a religion. Its purpose is to make money. It practices a variety of mind-control techniques on people lured into its midst to gain control over their money and their lives. Its aim is to take from them every penny that they have and can ever borrow and to also enslave them to further its wicked ends.
It was started in the 1950s by a science fiction writer named L. Ron Hubbard in fulfilment to his declared aim to start a religion to make money. It is an offshoot to a method of psychotherapy he concocted from various sources which he named "Dianetics". Dianetics is a form of regression therapy. It was then further expanded to appear more like a religion in order to enjoy tax benefits. He called it "Scientology".

Scientology is a confused concoction of crackpot, dangerously applied psychotherapy, oversimplified, idiotic and inapplicable rules and ideas and science-fiction drivel that is presented to its members (at the "advanced" levels) as profound spiritual truth.

It is possible to have fun while doing something worthwhile. Check the links Les posted to see why theres so much bad feeling toward the Church of $cientology. If the local mosque represented an organised body that harbored and fostered fraudsters, extortionists, intimidators, kidnappers, torturers, and suspected murderers... I think I might be tempted to have a little fun while simultaneously exposing them as such. As far as I know, though, the local mosque does not represent such a body.

I wont be going though, I have better things to do with my time :P

Cheers!

I look like an arse at least 80% of the time anyway. Why not look like an arse in a crowd of arses?

See how you like to post links to copyrighted material?

Scientologists think you shouldn't be allowed to do that. THEY TRIED TO DESTROY THE FOUNDING PRINCIPLE OF THE INTERNET.

There. That should convince you.

Could someone split the off-topic posts into a "the Internet vs Largest of Als" junk thread, please?

As this thread rolls on it is increasingly apparent that this is actually just a bunch of dicks from the internet getting drunk together. Not interested. I'd rather go to Alton Towers.
