If you were to go out tomorrow, could i tag along with you lady? And if so, could i possibly crash at yours, if you would be ever so kind? I promise if you let me i will keep your cat warm as it sleeps on me!
Bit of silly advice, there. Maybe they were assuming you'll have a huge supply of cold soup to tide you over until your mouth works or something. But yes, when I got tonsillitis a while back they prescribed me high-strength paracetamol and codeine so I could swallow without crying, and since then I swear by the lower-strength stuff for all my lesser aches and pains. So long as it doesn't clash with other medications and you aren't taking anything else with paracetamol in it you should be fine to take it, blah blah read the box etc. you know the score because you're older than me.
Get yerself some codeine, wumman. Solpadeine max is the strongest stuff OTC, possibly Paramol. If you go for regular co-codamol, just get Boots own brand (with or without caffeine), it's exactly the same as branded stuff (i.e Solpadeine plus) but cheaper. If you can't take these (and the assistants should be asking questions to find out) or they aren't strong enough, have a word with your GP, they can prescribe stronger stuff. (Hopefully you won't need to do this after a day or two!)
