Ooh I forgot that your party was so soon, I have no sense of the passage of time I think I'm still stuck in last week at some point.
I shall bring said device to the land of drinking and ferrets.

Ah, ok. Nae idea about any of the hostels here I'm afraid, but if you've awready booked it, my advice would be pointless now, anyway!

I stayed at the Park Inn hotel, beside Alexanderplatz which is really handy. It's only a brief stroll from lots of great bars and restaurants; very close to Unter den Linden (great street full of lovely cafès, etc - which leads on to Brandenburg gate, then Reichstag just behind it..and great view of the TV tower from my room as well. If you haven't booked anything yet, I'd highly reccomend it

If you're on a tighter budget though, then maybe head towards Friedrichshain, which is central-east Berlin.. it's really quite cool, but also a lot cheaper, and still really easy to get around and close to centre or other cool parts. Went to a couple of parties there this week and stayed over. The buildings are typically (former, obv!) 'Soviet' and quite interesting. Really quite different from West Berlin. You should have a gander either way, regardless of where you stay. Take a walk down Frankfurter Allee/Karl-Marx-Allee to get a feel for it, at the very least (Or you can get a U-bahn to Samariterstraße - in between the stops: Frankfurter Tor and Frankfurter Allee) then go down the side-streets which are full of cool wee shops and bars...and if you take a right - will eventually lead down to the Wall.

Um, I might stick up some other cool places or tips that haven't been put up yet (although there were a few belters in there, heh!) in the Germany thread, once I get back home (which will be before you leave!) as I dunno how much you can write on these profile-comment-thingies!

Ooh, might have a chat with her soon then - my next plan is to start building a corset, I can get the materials and have the pattern but am just a little unsure as to how to follow it properly! Any help would be appreciated, I'm trying to get more into costuming.

I don't have a pattern for hooped petticoat and underskirts to cover them - it's lined up as a future project but I'm not confident enough to start on them now! I'll check out that wedding shop suggestion, my local charity shops are more focussed on daywear but perhaps there'll be something in Partick.

The soundtrack is immense, just discovered that quartet DeVotchKa! Oh, think i spied you at the Panopticon steam punk gathering, i was the one dressed in modern clothing chatting to Helen and folk. Think Helen was snapping away while you were getting a good wee pose on the stage.
