Hello fellow Teuchter person! God, it's been so long since I've been back there I have forgotten how to spell Teuchter. Hope you had a lovely night last night!
Which one, Pulp or Placebo? Man, i love Ivan Dobsky - if you own the monkey dust dvd, and HAVENT watched it with the commentary, for the love of god DO IT!
Okay, let's see. An example from daily media. How many adverts can you think of which show a man not knowing how to keep a house tidy, or not eating anything but quick-fix food as opposed to something properly cooking and prepared, running around doing silly things that have no purpose? The 'position of responsibility' in the household, in cooking, cleaning and other related tasks, is usually held by a woman - the men aren't cooking or cleaning or doing anything without a woman's assistance except with the Flash adverts. They're just driving cars and drinking beer, playing with gadgets. In America, they have a Klondike bar advert which shows men getting rewarded with a choc-ice for doing things like not ogling a woman who isn't his girlfriend in front of her - something that you'd think would just be basic decency is being rewarded as if, without a treat, the guy wouldn't bother.
Now to go to a less light-hearted aspect. Here's something that's being taught in abstinence-only classrooms all over the place. Both sexes are told not to have sex. However, the message to girls is, essentially, that 'boys will be boys' and have less control over their sexual urges than girls - it is more their duty to 'protect their virtue' than it is for boys to not pester in the first place. In rape discussions everywhere, IN COURTS, we hear of people defending the rapist because 'he was provoked', 'he couldn't control himself', or for some reason he didn't understand that the woman hadn't consented even though he had to attack her. This shows a society that sees men as controlled by their urges, without a moral compass, unable to think when the blood goes south. Essentially reducing them to infantile or subhuman level.
