Just as with ‘PAC’, ‘MAC’, ‘DIN’, and so on. |

I'm not sure about those in the ICU unit though Toast. I don't think the entire hospital is ever evauated when an alarm goes off.

| Re: Stupid, stupid, stupid and pointless composition of public messages If you ever end up in a wheelchair, don't go see a play at the Traverse.
In the event of a fire, rather than trying to manhandle you up the stairs to street level to escape the burning building, they wheel you into a special "fireproof" room, which gives the firemen 2 hours to put the fire out before you get engulfed by flames.
Assuming they succeed, and you survive, they then presumably have to manhandle you up the stairs at that point anyway, the only difference being that by this point the building has likely suffered structural damage and may collapse on you.
Great idea, chaps.

| Re: Stupid, stupid, stupid and pointless composition of public messages All patients on a hospital ward I was in were shepherded into the sitting room (which, incidentally, was the furthest place from the stairs) every time the fire alarm sounded.

Great idea, chaps. | I'm sure the cathouse has something similar as well.
I know thanks to my 'status' as official helper to my colleague whos lost several toes and broken his ankle etc that unless theres an evac chair nearby (which there usually is) theres an area by the fire escape stairwell that doubles as the fireproof room despite the fact teh firedoors that open into it don't fit the doorframe 100% and we'd die a burny death in there.
oh and heres another though not quite the same.
Koi Carp. You'd be just as well saying Koi Koi.

| Re: Stupid, stupid, stupid and pointless composition of public messages A fishmonger was getting a new sign made and he asked the signwriter to make it say "Fresh Fish Sold Here."
The signwriter quoted him £10 per word, took his brushes out and was about to start when the fishmonger said "you know what, we don't need the word 'fresh' , obviously it's fresh, nobody's gonna sell stale fish.
"In fact, come to that, we don't really need the word 'here'—that's obvious, a shop sign always goes on the shop. Leave out 'here.'
"And you know what, 'sold' is a bit silly, clearly I'm not giving it away, nothing's free in this life, my old man used to say."
The signwriter gives him a hard stare and says "Then I'll leave out the word 'fish' too, you don't need to say that cause you can smell the fucking things a mile up the road."

I don't think it's unreasonable.

| Re: Stupid, stupid, stupid and pointless composition of public messages at my work, the drive to ditch acronyms has meant re lengthening some standard phrases. so originally, we had personal effects drawers, or PEDs. some bright spark has decided this was originally 'pedestal', so now people talk about putting their sandwiches and things im pedestals. idiots. |
