| Saddest thing you've ever heard One of the scientists in my department (a clever but sheltered young fellow, will probably go far) has a favourite kinase. He had two glasses of wine at a meeting this afternoon and (clearly tipsy) told us what his favourite kinase was before asking us our top five.
His favourite was AKT-1.

You'll occasionally hear someone describing a good, clear result as "sexy data". Also, this week, I heard someone say "working on asthma is okay but it's not like working on something sexy, like Alzheimer's."
There's nothing "sexy" about dementia.
