Saddest thing you've ever heard

One of the scientists in my department (a clever but sheltered young fellow, will probably go far) has a favourite kinase. He had two glasses of wine at a meeting this afternoon and (clearly tipsy) told us what his favourite kinase was before asking us our top five.
His favourite was AKT-1.
If you don't know what a kinase is - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinase
Anyone heard anything sadder?

There are no words...

But if he's passionate about it it's cool. "Sad" is relative.

I love my new job but some of the banter makes me cringe. You'll occasionally hear someone describing a good, clear result as "sexy data". Also, this week, I heard someone say "working on asthma is okay but it's not like working on something sexy, like Alzheimer's."
There's nothing "sexy" about dementia.

Doesn't have to be to do with science. Although science does provide a bottomless geek mine.

Most of ThinkGeek.com

God I love that place, but some of the stuff there! USB sandwich toaster? Binary watch?

Obviously I intend buying both of those in the future
