Explain that a hypothesised particle, the graviton, is responsible for the force of gravity but one has yet to be detected.
Don't forget to point out that for that hypothesis to hold up, the graviton must have zero mass, too.

Oh, and that the classical graviton theory isn't without its issues, and you start to get into the realms of string theory and what particles really are.

That said, if you can manage to explain photons to him, gravity won't be that much harder…

Well he was working on a new theory of evolution last night before he went to bed so I reckon he could handle it.

Get him to bring in a torch for "show and tell" and teach the class about the speed of light, photons and wave-particle duality.

‘So light is part of the electro-magnetic spectrum?’
‘Yes’
‘Like microwaves, radio waves and sound waves?’
‘Yes’
‘But… these photon particle thingies?’
‘…yes.’

He could demonstrate the version of the double slit experiment with detectors in the slits and explain how this shows that a photon exists in all possible positions and states simultaneously until it is observed or detected.
......The next week he could come in with a cat in a box.......

Interesting, aye.

Hard as fuck? Christ yes.
