A lot of rock if you actually look at it can be taken with a heafty pinch of salt. It's only natural to have a few acts poking a bit of fun. Are they any good? Thats a different matter really and will depend on your own taste. I'll happily listen to some AWK when I'm in the mood same with Tenacious D but it's like all music you got to be in the right mood for it and like it in the first place.
So no comedy rock isn't bad unless you don't like it jsut the same as every other style of music.

No shortage of brilliant rock bands with a sense of humour. I remember reading an interview where Eddie Vedder was claiming that Pearl Jam had more of a sense of humour than other grunge bands as they had a sheep on their album cover.
