The Story:
** Way back in 1994 an innocent fierce panda records released a slew of snotty little double vinyl compilation EPs with mocking titles likes ‘Shagging In The Streets’ and ‘Crazed And Confused’. Acts such as Ash, Supergrass, The Bluetones and, of course, jale made early recorded appearances and the label never looked back. At least not until the summer of 2004 when, giddy from the acclaim lavished upon its tenth anniversary ‘decade:’ compilation album, fierce panda decided to pick up its birthday boots and head back to its roots by indulging in another handful of double vinyl collections.
** Ergo, July 5th saw the release of the ‘On The Buzzes’ EP, a London-based affair festooned with The Rocks, The Rakes, Razorlight and more. September sees the arrival of the ‘Shock & Paw’ EP, which rounds up some sizzling new American talent. And smack bang in the middle comes ‘Glowing Underground’, a brave and possibly foolhardy attempt to showcase a small percentage of the riotous new talent emerging from Scotland which has caught the panda’s furry ear over the past year.
** True to the spirit of ’94, both formats are limited edition affairs deleted on the day of release. True to the spirit of ’04, the artwork of ‘Glowing Underground’ features some stellar scenes of low level commutery from the Glasgow Subway. Watch us run with those puns. There will also be this:
