"The Big Issue in Scotland set musicians’ minds on mental health project.
On October 28, The Big Issue in Scotland will release Mindset, a music CD based on the subject of mental health and well-being. Mindset is being produced in association with NHS Scotland for the Scottish Executive’s Healthy Living campaign and will be given away free to the public when they buy their copy of The Big Issue in Scotland.
Unsigned musicians were invited to submit songs inspired by, or directly written about the subject of mental health and well-being. More than a hundred tracks were received and then judged by a panel of music industry professionals and representatives from the Mental Health Division at the Scottish Executive. The final CD features sixteen tracks from a diverse range of artists, including well-known breaking bands such as, Poor Old Ben, We Rock Like Girl’s Don’t and Phono.
The CD will be launched at the Glasgow Barfly on October 29 and will feature Poor Old Ben, Aviator Shades, My Legendary Girlfriend, Phono, Lee Patterson and Crestfallen. The gig will also act as a showcase event for MusicWorks: The International Cross-Media Music Convention, which happens in Glasgow each year.
Mindset will be The Big Issue in Scotland’s second themed CD, which follows up on the huge success of Songs of Freedom, which was based on the themes of miscarriages of justice and was released in November, 2003.

The CD launch will take place on October 29 at The Barfly, 260 Clyde Street, Glasgow and is open to over 18’s only.
