Talking gems rough mix

guys!

this is sounding great!

i love this song,

its an instrumental that has a great build up but doesnt go into the tried and tested "mash mode", some of the actual song sounds like something that jesu/godflesh hero justin broadrick (minus the industrial sludge :P) puts together. ace bassline and very well produced drums (they clatter loads-ace!). its a really great build up song, i could see it going straight into trench run

would never have it down as mts at all. is this the begginning of a change??

will we see this one in the set at all, if so with the keys??

a storm is brewing indeed

when are you guys coming back to glasgow

so many questions, its like the 3rd degree, whats yer name where do you come from...

i said nice things about alamos at www.audiodropouts.co.uk

Germs rough mix

Heya

cheers for the feedback. Is it the beginning of a change? I dont think so...

We've always toyed around with instrumental ideas when jamming but never actually recorded any of them. Chris and Martin came up with this one and I really liked it.

Originally Chris picked a guitar part over it from the start which provided the basis of the melody / mood but when we were mixing we realised that while the music itself sounds really good, that part sounded iffy on a guitar. So we tried to build the song using other instruments but essentially keeping the music Chris had come up with. Also Les' bass lines have not been given enough credit in the past and I thought it'd be cool to get his featured more prominently on this track. I'm sure when it's finally mixed it'll be ace. We may also replace the keys with strings, etc. We'll see how it turns out. I kinda like it how it is myself.

Re: gems rough mix

i think the vibe on it is great, i love the way the drums are raw, they clatter about and it ups the mood on it big time. its the same with the senator album-the drums sound sooooooo "albini" and really bring out a screwed up face

strings could be very cool, i put on G-Plan last week in stereo and the new violin guy has added so much more width/mood/emotion to them. he played on the record ("all roads lead to this", its ace go buy it!) for a couple of the tracks but is now a permanent member of the band. - a must for fans of grails + godspeed...

the song reminds me of the caffreys advert where is has "there is a storm brewing"....

hmmm

Re: gems rough mix

ho ho ho merry xmas

i just realised that those mofos played sleazys last night

mts fancy a gig in stereo on 7th march

its a monday night but monday nights are great now, we have always had more than 60 people in. a lot of fowk go to gigs on mondays now. plus everyone loves stereo!

a track for the sampler cd would be required, that would get dished out in the weeks before the gig

feel the love
