SPYAMP: New album 'GTi' available now!

We've had their track "Megaman" on the petpiranha site for awhile now and there's new audio streams at www.myspace.com/spyampGTi from the album. We'd love to hear from people so please post below if you're going to support these guys when the record comes out! Thanks.

Spyamp have always been superb and GTI, although a long-time coming is no dissapointment. It fucking rules and could easily stand as one of the best rock albums I've heard from Scotland in recent times! I urge everyone to buy this when it is released. Also go and see them live!

BTW - I know some folk are not getting the last track 'Have No Names' but there's something about it I really like. I like talking in songs as long as it's done in a good way, like say Nada Surf's 'Popular'. And not where it's trying to be too deep and meaningful, like that Pearl Jam track on No Code where vedder starts talking bollocks about 'if he only knew then what he knows now...' - at that point I'd have said "Eddie! Stop smoking so much pot in the studio you twat!"

I love it. Especially the spoken bit - it reminds me of home when I spend all day surrounded with weegie accents.

glad you guys are into the tracks, our favourites are being kept secret until the album is released, providing andy doesn't find himself in a robin hood mood and give the whole thing away! (thats not supposed to be a jibe by the way)

when and where can you buy it?
soon and not sure yet are the best answers i can give to that just now. as soon as we know we'll tell.

macs story on have no names was originally going to be much higher in the mix, like a story tape, but we decided to sit it back down but still make it totally audible. i really like the sound of macs voice in it, if all else fails he has a part in the archers waiting for him.

these guys rock and their music is even better I’ve heard the whole album and i think it kick some serious ass.

Lets just talk about the riff on the track Seaview to quote Tenacious D it “Rocked my f**king socks off” I love it. Great album well done guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we're playing in drouthies this wednesday 26 june, along with a couple of friends. the album will be on sale for £5 because we want you all to own a copy. however, due to our need for food/alcohol/electricity/petrol, but mainly because we want to record more, the album will be a little more expensive at future gigs. so please come down, it's free.

the line-up is:

ignacio calumarte (or iggy) - non classical instrumental songs played on a classical guitar

neil doherty - neil's a great guitarist and i heard that since we asked him to play he's put together a band for it. since i've never heard this band i'm going to say captain beefheart

spyamp - can't wait to play, its been a while since we last played live but we've been writing new stuff, some of it will no doubt be aired along with whatever you would like to hear off the album

I'll be playing in Niall's band. Yeah, he is a great guitarist and he's got our good friend Martin on drums, who is a great drummer - so it looks like i'm the odd one out. I hope they can carry it cos I won't even find out what i'm playing until Niall tells me tomorrow evening! Should be fun though - Niall's material is really good.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too, it should be.....erm.....interesting. We rehearsed for the first time for 2 hours last night.
When I say 'rehearse' I mean Martin and I heard the material for the first time and tried to learn it. On top of that I believe Niall only wrote the set a couple of days ago and the lyrics a few hours before the rehearsal. Hahahaha. It's decent material though, I reckon with a bit of refinement and a lot of practise it could sound shit hot. Got another 3 hours worth of studio time before the gig, I don't know if that's enough 'refining' time for Martin and I. Haha. Niall sounds good. Oh well, will be fun anyway.
