Dundee Rawk vs Zombie Apocolypse by Les

True story;
So, there I was in the basement of Drouthy Neebors, the Perth Road's premier rock'n'roll disco, sipping a beer with my esteemed colleagues Andy, Fritz and Martin 'Fuzz' Robison while we waited on our counterparts and uselessly tried to gather the motivation to begin setting up for the evening's festivities.
Suddenly, right in the middle of a fascinating debate concerning gaint radioactive ants, our attention was arrested by the noise of some pandemonium occuring in the main bar above our heads. At first the noise was dismissed on the assumption that some art student, delirious with drink, had collapsed over a table displacing several glasses in a floorward direction. However, the commotion did not seem to dissipate and was now, somewhat disturbingly, being pierced by screams of the kind commonly described in children's horror novels as 'bloodcurdling'. Rapid consultation between the four of us established that investigation may be foolhardy and our plan should be to remain where we were until we were confident the chaos had ceased.
Fritz volunteered himself to secure the iron gate which seperates the basement bar from the stairwell while Martin offered to ascend the stairs on the other side of the door on the left hand side of the basement as you face the bar, a stairwell which affords a decent and sheltered view of the street.
As Fritz returned from his miniature mission he stopped dead halfway between the iron gate and our seats, I caught his eye and instantly recognised an expression of concern and perhaps even a little fear. I quietly pointed this out to Andy and the two of us moved into a position so we could see what had spooked Fritz so much.
Martin was standing in front of the door, which he had now jammed shut with a large piece of wood, he had one hand on the wall to steady himself and his ashen face betrayed intense, mortal terror. Slowly he uttered just one word, a word I had feared to hear for countless years. A word which heralded a day I knew would come but never had I imagined it would be this soon. I was horribly, horribly naive. Martin looked up, fixed us with a stare of deadly seriousness and uttered that word,
"Zombies" he said......................

{stay tuned}
