| Death Metal I recently spied one of my esteemed colleagues on another message board making light of "Death metal and comedy rappers". I think this person, you know who you are, should immediately check out 'Heartwork' by Carcass and 'The Ethereal Mirror' by Cathedral before writing off an entire genre.
Also, if you want a bit of comic-book, techni-colour death metal to listen to with your tongue in your cheek you can't go wrong with a bit of Cannibal Corpse. I'd recommend starting with "Tomb of the Mutilated". This album contains epic, fragile and breathtaking soundscapes such as "Necropaedophile" and "Entrails ripped from a virgin's cunt" and the Radio 4 favourite, "Hammer Smashed Face".
I'm with you on Comedy rap, however, it is a joke wearing very thin very fast. |

Whoever said something about death metal and comedy rappers may have been talking about Six Feet Unders collaberation with Ice T, called "One Bullet Left", which is a beast of a song. Not comedy though. |

I suppose not, "Doom Metal" then. Cathedral often get squeezed into the death metal journalistically though and they certainly move in death metal circles as far as I know. That said, I don't know a great deal about death metal. Regardless of whether it's death metal or not, people should still check out 'The Ethereal Mirror" anyway because it's a great record. Perhaps some others with greater knowledge of the genre can recommend some good albums then. |

| Re: Death Metal "prostitute disfigurement"
Hahahahaha, is that serious? I'm going to need to expand my death metal repertoire I think.
I've got a Moribid Angel album somewhere, can't remember what it's called right now. It's pretty good though if I remember correctly. Never liked Deicide, Glen Benton always struck me as a bit of a knobend. |

Looking forward to the new Cryptopsy, 'mon the Lord Worm. New Aborted and Immolation albums are fucking awesome.
I actually despise Deicide, as much as I love the Florida style I hate them, they bore me. And Benton's a wank. |

Old Deicide is fucking excellent though.
Cathedral is doom metal. Not Death, as stated above.
Check out Cryptopsy, Wormed, Martyr, Decapitated, Lykathea Aflame (weird melodic but brutal death metal. ), Devourment, Nile and Yattering.
Aborted and Avulsed are fucking good too. |

Think they've got a new album out with that name some point at the end of this year. |
