watch out for the phrases "Spiky metal types Feeder " and the more interesting "majors are run by people who don't actually like "rock'n'roll.""(as we all suspected/knew) and lots of references to how fucking coldplay are this months saviours of rock n roll.

Re: surrogate bands - they suck ass - you already knew this

That article, while interesting, does a lot of stating the obvious e.g. "record companies like to seek copies of something with a proven market." - of course they do, why wouldn't they? After all, they're record companies, not record charities or organisations for musical diversity. I liked The Guardian's absolute mauling of Alanis Morrisette's "new" record (Jagged Little Pill Acoustic) last week much better. It described her lyrics as "achieving the impressive double feat of sounding incredibly pompous while making absolutely no sense whatsoever" and opens with this sentence, which made me chuckle, "At risk of causing Britain's record company boardrooms to collapse in hysterical laughter, it is worth noting that some albums can be too successful." http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/frida...528314,00.html - worth reading.

While you're talking about The Guardian I wrote a drunken e-mail to them and I got one back today saying they liked it and may publish it next week.
