Re: Poll of Poles (it should work this time)

If you are going to have a poll of Poles I would have thought the least you could do is research the topic thoroughly.

The year ahead is going to be interesting!!

Dude, every year is interesting in Poland, you never know what is going to happen next, or indeed if anything is going to happen next, but something always does, thats what makes Poland such a fascinating place.

Foxglove what Witold Lutoslawski compositions do you recommend seeking out?

Symphony Number 4!

I'd recommend listening to Krzysztof Penderecki (another Pole!). Listen to Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima if you can. Weird avant-garde stuff, but 'tis good.

Can't believe you left out Liverpool Goalie Jerzy Dudek.
He only won Liverpool the European Cup in a penalty shoot out!!!

Re: Poll of Poles (it should work this time)

Have you seen Jerzy Dudek play much? He is one of those really inconsistent players that you love and hate depending on the day. I am not sure even people in Liverpool or Poland would have him in their lists!

Good luck in Belfast

Re: Poll of Poles (it should work this time)

Wow, just listened to Penderecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima, and Lutoslawski's The Dream of Jacob, Music for 2 pianos and Funeral music, which made me think of another Pole Krzysztof Kieslowski and his Short Film About Killing, which is a dark dark film and that was some dark dark music. Not exactly what you would call easy listening.

couldn't find symphony number 4, but I'll keep looking. I'm intrigued to find out more

Glad you enjoyed. I can't say I am an expert in his music but I have liked what I have heard.
