I'm not sure anyone who has lost their home, job, members of their family,
friends etc etc would share Mrs Bush's sentiments that it was "working very well
for them", no matter how 'underprivileged' they were.

Wouldn't surprise me, she's a total fool. She also said that she wouldn't wast her "beautiful mind" thinking about the dead American soldiers in Iraq.

I think they are more concerned with staying alive and healthy than what some idiot woman says.

The point is that someone so much in the public eye should say something so insensitive, it basically gives away the fact that she lives in a rich person's fairy land. Now, because she was responsible for the upbringing of the man who is currently running the world's only superpower, she has a tremendous amount of responsibility in the words she chooses lest we should come to the conclusion that Mr Bush lives in a similar world, which is already a very likely scenario.

So basically Mom hates the poor, and Junior hates black people, Daddy doesn't like Arabs unless they really rich and want to buy lots of guns/bombs/assorted instruments of death from him.

At least her son has loads of advisors and speachwriters to keep him from making a complete idiot of himself.

don't forget she's not just the current president's mother, she's a FORMER president's wife, ie a former first lady - which is a position that DOES carry some sorts of authority and public function.

so she isn't quite just a random member of the public who can say what she wants with impunity
