Nathaniel Merriweather's brand new album LOVAGE: MUSIC TO MAKE LOVE TO YOUR OLD LADY BY is THE one thing to get right to ensure that every evening goes your way. Featuring Dan The Automator, Prince Paul, Damon Albarn, Jennifer Charles, Mike Patton, and Maseo, the album - which is Nathaniel Merriweather's tribute to Serge Gainsborough - is out on 5th November on Tommy Boy.
LOVAGE bio
Jackie Gleason once commissioned his pal Salvador Dali to paint him an album cover. The big man, remember, wasn't just the world's most famous bus driver. He was a **bon vivant extraordinaire**, and he leveraged his considerable girth to produce several albums of surreal seduction music. With titles like "Music for Lovers" and "Opiate D'Amour," the records were a conquest even before the shrink wrap came off. Gleason once described his melodic intentions in no uncertain terms. "My music should sound like it's 5 a.m., you see her body outlined through her dress and you get that 'Mmmm, I want to come' feeling," he said. He would have loved our man Nathaniel Merriweather. Like the Great One, the debonair Mr. Merriweather knows how to set a mood. And we're not just talking Champale and light dimmers. No. Mood for the estimable Merriweather is like oxygen for the rest of us. He doesn't have to think about it; it's his entire world, and it sustains him. Gives him staying power. Cool as a cucumber, that Merriweather. He's the complete package. Chances are you know our man as the co-founder of the Handsome Boy Modeling School, the miracle undertaking that promised to give every man "a neatly-groomed, well-chiseled, drop-dead handsome face." His exquisite wisdom in the love department made Merriweather the envy of common men the world over, but that was just the beginning. Now Nathaniel's got a mustache, and he's positively unstoppable.
The new Merriweather album is "Lovage: Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By," and it's guaranteed to put a bee in her bonnet, jelly in her knees and paste in the roof of her mouth. It's a masterwork of persuasion, right up there with "Let's Get It On," "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me" and "Me So Horny." If this record doesn't get the girl, well, it's hopeless, Jack. With a little help from his friends, Merriweather explores some of the deepest psychic cavities known to man. The dark folds of romance are their playground, and they'll try every tunnel once. Trembling and breathless, the voices of Jennifer Charles (Elysian Fields) and Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, and many more) will fog even the primmest of glasses. They wrap around each other like human pretzels, fresh from under the heat lamp and lovingly dipped in very expensive dijon mustard. "You are the bitter," Patton growls. "I am the sweet," coos Charles in reply, playing the kitten to his tiger. And so on: "You are the griddle," "I am the meat." Ha-cha! On another number, "Strangers on a Train," our man Merriweather reclaims the devil-may-care allure of classic film noir for the age of hip hop. Ms. Charles, it would seem, is thirsty: "If you would, sir, pardon me," she whispers, "the stiff one is my specialty." How's the response, you ask? Let's just say the Handsome Boy focus groups have barely been able to contain themselves.
Of course, Nathaniel has been known to wet a few whistles in his day. With the dastardly deliciousness of "Lovage," though, he's outdone himself. In fact, as legions of satisfied customers will attest, Mr. Merriweather can now lay authentic claim to the name "the Great One." Jackie Gleason, eat your heart out. "Lovage: an herb that is said to be a benefit to relieving abdominal pains due to gastrointestinal gas. It's also been touted to reduce flatulence when consumed as a tea brewed from its roots or leaves." (The part of Nathaniel Merriweather is played by Dan "The Automator" Nakamura.) |

| Re: Lovin the Lovage um, thanks for the offers of copies guys but, after having read this thread, Elaine ordered it from Amazon (without my knowledge) and I was quite surprised to find it in the mail this morning.
It's f**king excellent.
And the track I already had 'Why must god punish me?' is actually called Anger Management. |

[/size] | This information is not true, l'il Mikey Patton is credited with writing the entire album w/ Dan Nakamura and Jennifer Charles and he quite unmistakably appears on many more tracks than highlighted here.
You're getting bad info Bryan. |
