Hey folks... been a couple of weeks since there's been any update on MiNUS3, so I'll bring everyone up to speed on what's going on just now (just in case you were wondering, of course).
MiNUS3 are currently 'on ice' (hmm... "MiNUS3 On Ice"? Look out, Disney... rawk n' roll is about to steal your idea) for the festive season, we've pretty much shut-up shop until January now. It's been a fairly intense 6 months for the band with all the gigging, recording, promoting etc, so we decided after our last gig at Strawberry Fields a couple of weeks ago (thanks to everyone who came, by the way) that a little time off for Christmas was just what we needed... so that's exactly what we're doing, taking a few weeks off. If you're really itching to hear the intricate guitar work of Stu, the bong-rattling bass of Mr John Cuthbert, and the competent drumwork of Jamie Scruff again soon, mark this date in your diary - Wednesday, 22nd January, 2002. We'll be playing a small (but just as rawkin' as ever, of course) show at the Cellar Bar here in Glasgow to blow off the cobwebs and get us back into the swing of things, entry is free, so at least come along and have a drink with us. Following that, we'll have gigs with The Cherrykicks/The Alpacinos in February or March, and (probably) a show with Evidence Of Trauma in February. And that's just the beginning...
So anyway, that's about it for 2002... it's been a very important year for the band, one that started on a bit of a 'Downer' as the band threatened to fall apart (though it has to be said, it's ultimately better in the long run that it did), and after some changes and some serious effort by the current line-up of the band, one that's ended better than any of us could have hoped. It's been a year that seen us play several very successful shows, which has put us on the receiving end of praise that we still don't understand. It's been the year of the 'Bunch O' Fives' EP, which has been very well received, and even made a little bit of money for us. It's the year 'minusthree.com' was launched, and (considering I'm hardly the greatest web designer) very successfully, too. It's been a year of making so many new friends and fans that it's getting hard to remember everybody... and a year of getting the attention of some very important people.
And to top it all off, it's been a year of learning... we know what we've achieved this year isn't even the tip of the iceberg compared to what we've got to do to get to where we want to be... and we know that we're gonna be demanding the impossible, considering the kind of music MiNUS3 play. But we're learning a trade here, and we're learning it fast... and we're determined to make sure we're back and ready to push even harder in 2003, enough to make MiNUS3 2002 look like a dodgy school covers band. We're going to gig harder, and further afield too... not just in Glasgow, hell... not even just in Scotland. We're going to make sure as many people as possible get their hands on our 'Bunch O' Fives' CD, get it in people's faces so much, you'll have no choice but to sing along at the shows. We might even thow in a handful of new songs, too... just to mix things up a little.
MiNUS3 are coming. Don't say I didn't warn you...
Thanks to everyone who's made 2002 so good for us. Thanks to everyone who came to our shows, who bought our CD, who actually enjoyed us enough to tell your friends about us. Thanks to all the bands we've played with this year, and the people who've put us on... we've met some really cool folks this year. Thanks especially to our friends, for putting up with us, and helping us with all the driving around, and promoting, and all the usual crap... without your help, we'd be pretty much useless. And a personal thanks from myself to Cuff and Jamie for being the greatest guys anyone could be in a band with... your hard work and dedication has made all the difference to me.
As we say, 'Here's To You'... and
you know who you are. Yeah, you.
Finally, MiNUS3 would like to say, have a
great Christmas, and best wishes for the new year... and we'll see you in 2003!
Cheers,
Stu
