Howdy folks,
You may or may not know that MiNUS3 are looking to push further and harder to get out there and in people's faces this year, and I've been thinking about ways to get out to as many people as possible. However, I've been seeing local bands for years who seem to be content with doing nothing but play to their mates... which, over time, just plain doesn't work in the long run. There's a lot of people out there I'm sure would love to come see MiNUS3 if they knew about us, but it's too much for myself, Cuff and Jamie to do ourselves.
So, I'm now going to attempt to launch an official "MiNUS Street Team", and I'm looking for
you to take part.
MiNUS3 need YOU.
What I'm looking for is people to sign up to actively promote the band, and in particular our gigs. It's not easy trying to sell tickets by ourselves, and more often than not it's impossible to get them out to everyone we want before the actual gig. The deal will be, when we get tickets, we'll allocate a certain amount of them to our most trusted "street team" members, who will then try to sell them on to as many people as they can get to pay full price for them. At the moment, I may sell a ticket to someone, but have no idea how many other potential MiNUS3 fans they might know. The plan is, to have that someone get out to those people and pull those folks in that we'd never get a chance to. We want to get these venues
packed, and we want to do it regularly, and I think that with
your help we could do it.
I'd also like to call on a "street team" for general other promotion stuff... to pass on/sell on our CDs, to flyer the utter fuck out of bars, clubs, unions, studios, shops etc (we'll obviously provide the flyers), to get on the internet and spam the life out of every music-related site you can find (well, not "spam" them as such... just post info on sites we haven't found yet), to get our name out to local venues/promoters/labels across Scotland that we haven't heard of yet... all the usual "street team" stuff.
What would you get from it? Well, at the moment, until I find out if this would work or not I'd be offering any official street team member MiNUS3 freebies. Obviously you'd be entitled to free tickets for gigs, free CDs on request, free MiNUS3 gumf like T-shirts and badges and that kind of thing (which we'll be getting done soon), and the thanks and respect of the band, who will more than likely buy you a pint or two for your help. My goal is to turn MiNUS3 from financially making a loss to making some kind of profit, I
know it's possible, so if this idea takes off like I want it to I'd be looking to come to some kind of agreement where we could start paying our best "street team" members, like have some kind of quota on ticket sales to earn the right to a cut of money we make. It all really depends on
you buying into this and making the idea work.
If you've got any interest in this, or any ideas or suggestions on how I should be doing this (negative criticism is more than welcome, as long as it's constructive), please post your interest in this thread or email me at
stu@minusthree.com. If you're not interested, at least do me a favour and pass on the details of this thread to anyone who might be, and point them in my direction.
C'mon folks... help us get MiNUS3 from being the best punk/metal rock n' roll band in Glasgow to being the
biggest, too...
Thanks.
