| Kamikazes, tonight (19/03/2003) The Kamikazes at Nice N' Sleazys, tonight! They're playing with... someone. Doors are at... some time tonight. Entry is... possibly free. Hmm.
The Kamikazes feature Minus3 bassist Cuff and Minus3 drummer Jamie, and are fronted by a man called Meech who used to be in Minus3 many centuries ago. They also feature a small ugly man called Stevo on guitar who may or may not have seen Minus3 play once or twice.
Contrary to the over-abundance of Minus3 connections, they're actually fuck-all like Minus3 (the mighty Minus3 are about 1000 times better, but that's me saying that)... they're more of a simple 3-chord garage punk band, with some really catchy choruses and an abundance of self-deprivating lyrics, the sort of stuff Meech is pretty good at.
Anyway... y'all should go see them. |

| It was pretty good... the Kamikazes were mostly better than usual, and they had a good sound and stuff. Meech really has to get more animated up there, though... there's some serious energy in some of the songs, but the stage looks like a still-life photograph.
Anyway...
Turns out, they were there to support that guy Gary who runs the Arc's band, I think they were called The Blimp or something... they were fucking brilliant, a sort of rock-blues-funk sort of thing, sort of like Rocket From The Crypt but much funkier. Good stuff.
And then, I missed the last train home. Meh. |

| I wouldn't say they were like a still life photograph ... they are more like one of those musical books you get where you open at a page and it starts playing a tune.
oh and stu... i threw a coin into your cup this morning on my way to work -- you were sound asleep in that doorway so I didn't want to wake you. I told the other bums to wake you at 08:45 for work.
