| Matrix: Reloaded Review The cinema lights dim, the instantly recognisable Warner Brothers logo then lots of green numbers and letters whizzing up and down a black screen… hmmm I’ve seen this before. Wait! What’s this? Reloaded? Woohoo! Okay so everyone on the planet has seen the Matrix, we all know how bullet time works and computers do all the hard work so we don’t have to. Well given the extent of the fight scenes in Reloaded I’d say hats off to all the computers that did months of wire work and fight training for this one. And no this is not a comment at the acting ability of our Mr Reeve, honest. The opening scene with Trinity fighting an Agent or later with Neo and his antics with Mr Smith in the school yard sticks out as two of those jaw dropping moments where you struggle to see the joins and will happily suspend your disbelief just to enjoy what are two fantastic set pieces in the film. Throw into that mix some fantastic car chance sequences and you already have enough action for two movies. Wait there’s more! There’s all the fight scenes with “older” Matrix programs ones that are very much removed from the sterile Mr Smith clones of the first movie, but we also have them in spades as well. Reloaded takes us to a new level in the Matrix universe. The visuals are stunning and more eye popping than ever. But is the Matrix: Reloaded just eye candy or do we get some plot and substance this time out? Well, to say that it’s an intellectual masterpiece of cinematic writing would be a bare faced lie and we all know it but we do get some nice character development, well the love story between Trinity and Neo that seems to revolve around them slipping off for a quick one every chance they get, Neo being hailed as some sort of Cyber Messiah, and a chunk of plot that seems driven to setting us up for the third movie cliff-hanger style. And when I say cliff-hanger I mean in true Saturday, Flash Gordon, matinee style, but those that see the movie will know what I mean. The sort of ending that leaves you feeling either cheated or foaming at the mouth for Matrix: Revolution. When all is said and done Matrix: Reloaded is a great action movie and as far as pure escapism goes you won’t do much better this year. And it doesn’t matter how many critics slate it you know its breaking box office records all over the world. | | | |

| Watching the first one reminded me how much I loathe kung fu wire theatrics and how I probably won't bother going to see it. Sure it's entertaining enough mind just not my cup of tea. |

| Quality film.
Flew past.
Never spotted all the long winded philosophical stuff American reviewers were constantly bitching about.

| heh, i was gutting myself at it.. Quote:
I'm not joking; you'll literally feel your I.Q. drop watching this rubbish. For instance, the evil Matrix creates two new enemies for Neo, called the Twins. Their first priority is to blend discreetly into the simulated world of the Matrix, to walk among the people unnoticed. So of course the Matrix made them huge albino men with bleach-white dreadlocks who occasionally transform into shrieking wraiths.
"What's that, honey?"
"Oh, nothing. It just looks like a simple Kung-Fu Swedish Rastafarian Helldemon. I'm sure there's no need to question our fragile, sheltered grasp of 'reality' as we know it."

| jus seen matrix reloaded. wow man, that was a good film! obviously the special effects dont have the same impact as the 1st film, but they still put other films 2 shame. I dont get why the critics have such a problem wit it

Hmmm maybe if the person that wrote this had watched the film theyd have realise that they were obsolete were supposed to have been deletd maybe because of this, among other reasons.

| As i stated in my own thread about that wretched and feeble excuse for a movie:- Quote: Originally posted by HeartSick Im sorry if people have already posted loads on this..but last night a friend of mine and I went to see Matrix Reloaded.. SPOILER
I quite liked the first one..it was good, original and enjoyable...all the elements lacking from this new film.. The new film has taken everything that was great about the first film out and made it exactly the same as a poor action flick.. the obvious film characteristics....of fast cars scenes, pointless sex scene nothing happens, very long dialogue cos they had to explain what was going on to carry the film cos nothing was really happening...each speech boring the audience to death..moans and groans surrounded me in the sold out cinema. The rest was filled with almost the same fight scene each lasting for what seemed like forever..i like fight scenes but these were over the top and stupid even for the matrix...they even showed a number of scenes a number of times to fill up space..not even a snipit but the whole scene again... The characters were boring..they just seemed to walk around with their long coats on taking their shades off and on...
It was dreadful..everyone around me was whispering how awful it was...I even fell asleep just before the end..that is the 2nd time in my life ive fallen asleep at a film...What a waste of a good thing...Everyones entitled to their own opinion but in mine Save your money...Dont go see it... |
As another member stated in this thread :- Quote: Originally posted by .:*Lou*:. Seen it tonight, there is so much of it that is absolutely deathly boring. Seriously. Yak yak yak. The sex scene is not needed AT ALL nor is the whole "I love you desperately" thing with Neo and Trinity, we KNOW you love each other, move the plot along please. It was overlong and there were loads of random dudes in it who didn't seem to do anything, but I'd bet money that they're important in Revolutions. | And as someone else so brilliantly put it.. :- Quote: Originally posted by TheCastrator It seems as if it's suffered the curse of The Sequal.
Someone makes a film.
Film does well.
Same person makes a sequal, but pissing everything up.
Film will do well because it's a sequal to the first, good, film.
Perfect example: Alien.
Great first film. Tense, frightening, surprising film.
One single creature picks off a number of humans trapped on a ship. etc. etc.
Aliens comes out and instead of that, they have a load of gung ho marines shooting hoards of aliens. Blah blah blah.
Anyway. |
Enough reasons for you .... Lets just say in my own opinion I thought they have wasted a masterpiece... which is a shame... Maybe somehow... the next one will apoligise for the rubbish sequel and be great...time will tell...but that was simply a dissapointment... |
