| Movie: Star Wars Episode III - The Revenge Of The Sith [image=left]http://www.alternativenation.net/gallery/files/2/4/8/GeneralGrievous4.jpg[/image]I’ll get the obvious question out of the way first, quickly and concisely. Yes. It’s good. Very good. I’d even go so far as to say that this movie is on a par with The Empire Strikes Back. That’s just how good it is. I've probably forgotten a lot of things that should be mentioned here, but I'll be seeing this a good many more times, and I suspect most other people will do the same.
From the incredible opening space battle—with shots that couldn’t even have been dreamed of in the ’70s, and couldn’t have been pulled off in the ’90s—leading straight into some fantastic lightsaber fights…it just doesn’t let up. Every time you think: “Okay, that’s it. The scene’s over, and things are going to quieten down”, you’re proven wrong. The intensity of the combat in this movie has been kicked up so many notches from the rest that The Phantom Menace’s battles look like...

As for the hype thats the thing, I wasn't expecting much after Episode I and II so really I can't see that as a good arguement. The fact is I'd watch Episode I before I'd watch III again and it really did suffer from the hype. | Fair enough, you personally didn't let the hype affect you, but I was just offering a counter-point to your remmark that it'd be panned if it was a SW film.
I'd go see it again, for real. |

| Re: Movie : Star Wars Episode III - The Revenge Of The Sith They should make an episode 4, 5 and 6 showing what Anakin's kids get up to when they're older. You can bet the boy one's good at the force. |

| Re: Movie : Star Wars Episode III - The Revenge Of The Sith Just got in from seeing it there. Quite relieved, considering how utterly terrible Episode II was. Apart from the little brats, some of whom looked as young as 4 or 5 (rated 12A?) who rustled sweetie wrappers, talked, kicked my chair, cried and went for a piss constantly, I rather enjoyed it. Remind me to go to a mdinight showing next time though. |

| Re: Movie : Star Wars Episode III - The Revenge Of The Sith Just saw it myself. Someone please tell George Lucas to stop using 6 year olds to write his scripts. I actually fell asleep. It was nowhere near as awful as Episodes 1 & 2 but it was the Emporers New Clothes yet again. It was a passable film that was hyped beyond belief and for no good cause. The continuity was appalling for a film of such magnitude. The dialogue was simply not good enough (and even coming from the point of view that this is a film that appeals to children, there are far better kids films where the script and dialogue are actually considered more throughly and are as important as the efects).
And before anyone neg reps me for this, this is a personal opinion. I do not expect everyone to like the films that I do and I would not tell anyone that they are not allowed to be entertained by a film that they enjoy. This is a hugely popular series and I am quite well aware that I am in the minority in not having a high opinion of the latest 3 episodes.
Don't get me wrong, Episodes 4 & 5 are 2 films I enjoy over and over again. I am by no means anti Star Wars or anti the people who thoroughly enjoy them. The latest 3 in the series are just not for me. I went in with an open mind. I was hoping to really enjoy it. I was hoping that the flaws and criticisms that were made of Episodes 1 & 2 had been considered and learned from and that I would enjoy this episode as much as 4 & 5. Truth is though, I didn't.
So, for me, this was disappointing and thoroughly unentertaining. For everyone who enjoyed the film and loves the series, great. For me though, there are plenty of other films due for release that I will enjoy more this year. Well, at least I hope that I will!

| Re: Movie : Star Wars Episode III - The Revenge Of The Sith Did anyone else notice George Lucas' 2 in jokes during the film?
Ewan McGregor states that he has "seen enough already" as he looks at the security tape of the Jedi children being killed and at the end Natalie Portman is dying at the doctor states that she has lost the will to live. Sentiments I totally agreed with.

Barring that, I thought this film was pretty amazing... although that probably has something to do with the fact I've only recently been initiated into this whole Star Wars malarkey. I too thought Anakin's changeover seemed a wee bit rushed and sudden but in general I think they managed it pretty well, lovely dark atmosphere too. One of the few films I didn't actually begrudge paying money to see in the cinema.
And I could listen to Ewan McGregor do that A.G. accent for hours. |

I thought his conflict / changeover was done well for the most part... it was just when he started choking Padme that I was like "Here, that makes nae sense." |
