Movie: Batman Begins

[image=left]http://www.alternativenation.net/gallery/files/1/batman.jpg[/image]Back in days of yore (1989) a chap called Tim Burton directed a movie called 'Batman', and it was jolly good. Indeed, it was wonderful, with Jack Nicholson perfectly cast as the Joker, and a brooding Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader himself. It spawned a lavish sequel, which was also pretty good—if a little overboard on the crazy sets for my tastes—with Keaton reprising his role, and the unforgettably sexy Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman.

Then things took a turn for the worse. For that read 'the next 2 films were utter shit'. Hollywood got its hooks in and threw in lots of big name actors, hoping to cash in on the success of the first two. Sadly, they got away with it, and we movie fans were left weeping in the streets at the cinematic abominations left to us.

Then some bright spark decided 'Here, let's completely ignore the crap that has gone before, and make an 'origins of...

I'd say its likely that he is taking the piss, givent he dorection of the new films.

Still, it would be boss as fuck to watch Batman leather fuck out Superman with big kryptonite gauntlets.

i know when they were talkin gbefore about making Batman v Superman the talk was that Batman would be the heel. would be a hard one to write i'd imagine BUT with the way Begins was written and Bale's portrayal it would be more believeable now than if it were a continuation on from the clooney escapades.

This Batman movie was fucking great, right on the money. Infact, best Batman movie by a mile. All of the scenes were paced perfectly, no poofing about.

Christian Bale was actually alright as Batman, he had the cool husky voice and broody posturing down to a tee, but he just doesnt have the charisma for Bruce Wayne. Still, he beat most of the sleepwalking cast - Michael Caine? Must do better... totally misjudged Alfred, who is pretty integral to Batman. Katie Holmes? I prefered her as wholesome doey-eyed schoolgirl Joey Potter... shame she's never going to be any good in anything else, ever.

There was enough twists and well designed action sequences to keep me gripped to this one, i especially liked all the psychotropic sequences... the one where he hit the asylum doctor then pumped him for information was quality. Christopher Nolan has real flair... it was pretty brave to take away all the campy theatrics and treat it as a more serious action blockbuster, and somehow make it way better than it's predecessors. If he want's to make a sequel... i'm in.
