| Out now, rated 12A [image=left]http://www.alternativenation.net/gallery/files/1/batman.jpg[/image]Back in days of yore (1989) a chap called Tim Burton directed a movie called 'Batman', and it was jolly good. Indeed, it was wonderful, with Jack Nicholson perfectly cast as the Joker, and a brooding Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader himself. It spawned a lavish sequel, which was also pretty goodif a little overboard on the crazy sets for my tasteswith Keaton reprising his role, and the unforgettably sexy Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman.
Then things took a turn for the worse. For that read 'the next 2 films were utter shit'. Hollywood got its hooks in and threw in lots of big name actors, hoping to cash in on the success of the first two. Sadly, they got away with it, and we movie fans were left weeping in the streets at the cinematic abominations left to us.
Then some bright spark decided 'Here, let's completely ignore the crap that has gone before, and make an 'origins of...

She wasn't actually that bad in Batman. She never had much to say, and she did look pretty.

| Re: Movie: Batman Begins The Gift was OK and she looked perky alright except when you saw them in the dead scenes. Then they were not so lovely.
Jet Pac - go watch The Gift and enjoy.
KH was fine in BB - her mouth just irritated me slightly and it was my mate who pointed it out. You know what happens - someone points something like that out and then you notice it all the time. Damn Rob!

| Re: Movie: Batman Begins It was good, possiby even very good.
Katie Holms was pointless, her character brought very little to the movie. and the silly romantic exchange between her and Wayne at the end felt like it had been lifted word for word from the end of spiderman.
I loved some of the movie the way the 'batman doesn't kill' thing is rationalised by the gun being chucked into water scene works really well, as does the scarecrow as a villain, he was scary at first but ultimately useless, just like in the comic books. The last scene between Gordon and Batman was brilliant. I loved the teaser for the sequal with the playing card and the fact that it hints that the Joker is partly created by batman. good stuff. And hated some of it as well I found the " i won't kill you but I don't have to save you' thing really un satisfying, and hated the way he casually revealed his identity to Katy holms.
Basically it worked when it stuck to the comic book plots and got a bit ropey when it tried to invent its own stuff. Still well worth watching though.
I still think Sin City was a much better 'comic book movie' (and possibly better batman movie) than batman begins.

| Re: Movie: Batman Begins Katie Holmes was her usual type-cast moany, uptight self, but I generally thought it was half-decent.
Cried a few times though . . . . but just feeling pretty emotional lately!

| Re: Movie: Batman Begins Saw it earlier on today and may I just say; Best Batman Ever!!!
Brilliant storyline, great perfomances all round, amazing effects/scenery, etc, etc. The only thing I felt was better about the first movie was Tim Burton's Gotham City. Other than that can't fault it.
