Just when you thought it was safe… Having spent the majority of the past four or five years in the career wilderness, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are seemingly set to head back to the characters that made them cool, rich and famous.

“There's still a very good chance that we will all do another X-Files movie,” series exec producer Frank Spotnitz told SCI FI Wire.

Spotnitz has apparently been signed on to help script the feature, once creator Chris Carter can sort through some legal matters with producers Fox.

“We're not going into the mythology,” Spotnitz said, indicating that part two would be more like an extended episode. “Of course, we will catch up with the characters and what is going on in their lives, but it's not about the alien conspiracy. It's not about that.”

I've got season 8 and 9 here, but not watched them yet.

I'd be quite interested if it was just one of the usual standalone episodes with a few wisecracks from Mulder and some stone-cold cynicism from Scully.

That's what the X-Files was all about for me.

This has long been rumoured every year.

It probably won't follow on from the season nine cliff-hanger, though.

Thus, I'm not bothered.

I wish I'd watched that program, the handful of episodes I saw were quite cool.

Perhaps I should buy all the box sets and phone in sick for three weeks.

They both died about 15 times.

Utter dross after series 3, first few were fantastic, An other movie would just be painfull. Please don't.

Season 4 and 5 were bad, but 6 had a few good episodes.

I dont remember watching 7, but I know I did, so that doesn't say much for it.

Big Eugene Tooms was the best baddie, by far. None of this government (sp) conspiracy pish, mental liver-ripping mutants who can squeeze through air vents are always better

Hilarious episode, and it had Jesse Ventura and the Undertaker in it.

That's a stormer. Darin Morgan, the best writer on the X Files.
He also wrote "The Host", possibly the best X Files episode EVER.

I also loved the Post-Modern Prometheus, though that was a Chris Carter one.
It was about the deformed guy who covered houses in circus tents, sent people to sleep using some sort of tranquiliser on their frying pan, and danced about to Cher.
He loved Cher.

My boyfriends probably cracking off about this as I type. He told me about it and he never listens to internet folklore so I reckon it's definitely on the cards, and aye Marc, I reckon it'll be standard fodder, apparently a ghost story this time!
