| The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008 release) Lots of news for this...moving from New Zealand to Ireland (anyone up for some day-passes for extras work?) http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index...ory=0&id=34426 Quote:
Scouts are checking out locations in Ireland for Prince Caspian, the proposed sequel to Disney's hit fantasy film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the Irish Independent newspaper reported.
Irish film industry chiefs are keeping their fingers crossed that Disney will choose Ireland, the newspaper reported. The first film was shot in New Zealand.
The newspaper reported secret talks with Irish filmmakers who, if the venture goes ahead, would be involved as co-producers of Prince Caspian. An anonymous industry source told the newspaper: "The location scouts have been here for two weeks. They have also been looking at sites in Britain."
The movie is eyeing a fall production start under returning director Andrew Adamson.
| Also they're switching special effects teams from LucasFilms Industrial Light and Magic team to the team behind the Harry Potter and X-Men film - a move which cements the Ireland/Britain rumours for a filming location as Moving Picture Company and Framestore are both UK based. http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/729/729659p1.html Quote:
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian promises to be an even bigger visual spectacle than The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was — if that's possible. However, in spite of the top-notch CG work done on LWW by companies like ILM, Rhythm + Hues, and Sony Imageworks, the producers of Caspian are apparently hiring different companies for the sequel, notably two British effects houses. Industry sources tell IGN Filmforce that Moving Picture Company and Framestore, both based in London, will be responsible for the bulk of the film's digital effects.
The information, if accurate, could hint at where director and producer Andrew Adamson's has chosen to shoot his film. While LWW was made in New Zealand, locales for the second Narnia adventure have been up in the air, with New Zealand and Ireland rumoredly competing for the honor. London is a lot closer to Ireland than New Zealand, and keeping your effects teams close to your production crew doesn't hurt. Nevertheless, New Zealand can't be counted out quite yet.
The producers could also be moving effects work to England to take advantage of tax breaks instituted earlier this year. The British government has been trying to make the country competitive again, wooing back a once-vibrant filmmaking industry that has lately fled to less expensive nations like the Czech Republic.
Neither of these two London companies is new to fantasy film effects. Moving Picture has contributed its expertise to all four Harry Potter films, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and X-Men III. Framestore's oeuvre also includes the latest Harry Potter and X-Men motion pictures.
| No word on if they're also dropping Peter Jackson's WETA studios - they did most of the character and creature design on Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
Principal shooting is expected to begin this autumn on Prince Caspian with a theorized Spring-Summer 2008 release. |

Does anyone give a fuck about this franchise? The shitty fucking BBC adaptation smokes it.

| Re: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008 release) I quite liked the first Narnia film, tried reading the books and it was a bit of a "no joy" situation. Although I am more excited about the upcoming film version of Northern lights. But chances are it will be pish and I'll be annoyed.

I sometimes wondered if CS Lewis was on some kind of bet to see how many times he could fit the word "presently" into the books though. Prince Caspian particuarly.
