Re: Children of Men

I don't know if P.D James has written a sequel... Unless she has I think I would be against the idea of a sequel that didn't have its roots in a literary sequel...

Re: Children of Men

IT DOESN'T NEED A SEQUEL!

Fuck sake. And I find it interesting that every single person who has said they didn't like the ending is female, furthering my belief that women need to be spoon-fed when it comes to films.

Re: Children of Men

I personally think a sequel would be horrendous...I really liked how the ending was vauge and 'incomplete' - it worked as almost a snapshot of a bigger story.

There goes your theory, McLeary

I thought the exact same thing when I saw the photo in the press. Though as far as I'm aware, Tam has no involvement in the slaying of Amish schoolchildren. I'm not saying he definitely wasn't involved, just that I know nothing about it.

Re: Children of Men

I sat fucking aghast at this movie.

Not because it's bad by the way. Really is an absolutely brilliant film. The thought that went into it really impresses me.

Re: Children of Men

Well chuffed today

One of the airsoft shops I deal with for ammo and the like acquired most of the costumes worn by the soldiers at the end of the movie once filming had wrapped.
They were selling them a while before it was released, but weren't allowed to let on what film it was... And I found out too late to get a set in XL.
Was gutted.

Then later, I found out just how damn big the XL was - And I'd fit fine into an L.
But was skint
Gutted.

Then my boss decided he wanted a set.

I asked the lads if they'd sling me a discount for being a good customer

They agreed.
So my boss got a set for a little cheaper than the last advertised price of £100, and I got a set for a LOT cheaper for myself.

Then the courier screwed up the order.

End of the day, Airsoft Armoury flung in an extra set for nothing to make up for the delay, so I now own three near-complete costumes actually used in the production of this movie! For the princely sum of £20!
All that's missing is the boots and gloves. ( Some of the actors also had fleeces under the shirt, and I may be able to score one of those from elsewhere. The goggles and guns came from the props department ).

I need to get some decent pics.
Might nip up to the Gorbals at the weekend

( Pamela - If you see this, tell Sully to keep the set he scored in good nick! I suspect this will be worth a wee bitty more than he paid for it a while down the line... )

Re: Children of Men

Seen it twice since it appeared in my neck of the woods just after christmas.

I can't believe noone in this thread commented on what's been winning "Best Cinematography" awards all over the place...
There's a bit near the end, with the war and revolution going on all around them, that is 7 and a half minutes long in a single-take. Blood splattered on the camera, people missed their spots here and there, but a single shot involving at least a hundred people, war, explosions, guns....amazing. Just jaw droppingly amazing.

The only films I've seriously watched in theatres this year has been Pan's Labirynth and Children of Men..People are thinking me nuts because I'm describing every film I've watched as "Powerful. Emotional. Stunning"

Re: Children of Men

It was quite a ways into that sequence until the penny dropped about there having been no cuts.

They actually cheated a little bit and CGI-spliced a couple of takes together - But even the shots they spliced were damn long!

That scene, and the car "chase".
Wow.
