| The Day The Earth Stood Still - Remake? *packs shotgun and heads for Hollywood*
Thats it.. this is the final straw on the remake front.... Quote: |

Is this real? We don't know yet, but we'll put in some requests with Fox to find out. I can bet if it is real, it's going to be directed by someone who will give all sci-fi geeks quite a tingle. This movie is a very well-known classic and I don't think they'd risk screwing up a remake - like War of the Worlds, another 50?s classic, fortunately they did a pretty good job with that. Update: Fox confirmed with us that this is true and the date is correct, meaning a The Day the Earth Stood Still remake is definitely underway for summer 2008! | http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/02/...made-for-2008/

There are so many good unfilmed stories out there, make some of them.

| Re: The Day The Earth Stood Still - Remake? This is another film that shouldn't be remade. The original was by far one of the best movies i've ever seen and had an edge to it that had a good moral behind it. With the fact that there was hardly any big shoot outs also added to the wonder. The only time anything violent happens is when Gort re-awakens but i've got a bad feeling they'll jazz up the new versions with deaths galore and running battles etc etc.

As for saying that War Of The Worlds was a classic movie, that is bullshit. The only WOTW film i want to see is faithful to the book and therefore unfilmed. |

| Re: The Day The Earth Stood Still - Remake? Yeah they never show it where the book had it set and that was Britain.
I've got the day the earth stood still on dvd and even now it's still stands the test of time. The scene at the start where the ufo lands will be redone but will probably have fighter jets following it and shit like that.

| Re: The Day The Earth Stood Still - Remake? I'll need to look out the dvd, i haven't seen the film in years. Its a perfect case of story > effects not mattering. |

| Re: The Day The Earth Stood Still - Remake? Well even for that time they done well with the effects but your right, they could have had him getting off a bus and the story would have still worked. It's just a classic. I'll probably see the remake but through gritted teeth. I can gaurantee though that if it starts to look like they messed it up i'll walk.

Unfortunately this is where many people get their knowledge of classic Sci-Fi from..

| Re: The Day The Earth Stood Still - Remake? Probably the best sci-fi movie in existance. It's funny how they never had cgi etc back then but still managed to produce quality films like this.
