| Re: Hellboy 2 - The Golden Army It's not really, I'm just fed up of hearing about how "good" the Dark Knight was. I'm sorry, the weather makes me bitter
I can't see the third getting done for some time now either, but I'd imagine Ron would say yes regardless of his age.

| Re: Hellboy 2 - The Golden Army Saw it last night at the Cineworld showing - anyone else from on here there?
I really enjoyed it - massive improvement on the first one, particularly the script and humour. Ron has really settled into the role and it's great to watch him be HB. Doug Jones is much better suited to Abe than David Hyde-Pearce, because Abe is never portrayed as being overly camp in the comics. Was disappointed by Johann slightly - he was so overblown, and comically Churmann, really just Seth McFarlane's Klaus character from American Dad redux. Looked amazing but - the whole film did.
I'd also say it was a further step away from the comics, and for the better - it feels like GDT has established his own universe, his own Hellboy, and I felt like it was easier to accept the differences between the two mediums.
Must say, though - it wasn't a patch on The Dark Knight, but the two films are so utterly different they can only be comparable on a purely cinematic level, rather than two "superhero movies".
End was garbage but, even though I knew it was coming. It was just so... Sudden.
Can't wait to see it again though, and roll on HB3.

Apart from that, I agree with everything you said apart from The Dark Knight being better.

I love Hellboy (the character) - easily my favourite comic character, but the first movie was terribly lacking. The Golden Army is like Pan's Labyrinth crossed with Blade 2, so if that appeals then see it!

The script was fucking horrible, even more of a disappointment than the story. It looked absolutely gorgeous, though, from beginning to end. The creature designs are jaw-dropping, the sets likewise.
