Broken Lizard prepares Super Troopers 2

It’s juvenile and twisted music to the ears of “Super Troopers” fans everywhere. “We’ve decided we want to do it,” says Broken Lizard’s Paul Soter about the long-rumored sequel to the comedy troupe’s 2001 instant cult classic.

Soter admitted to MTV that the quintet that makes up Broken Lizard have approached the idea of a sequel with much trepidation. ”There was a period of time where it seemed to us that the only way people recognized us at all was as Super Troopers. So we thought, let’s get a few other films under our belt just to let people know that it’s not the only thing that we do,” said Soter.

With more recognition (if not astounding box office grosses) from films like “Beerfest” and “Club Dread,” Broken Lizard now feels confident enough to go back to the scene of their greatest success. ”The more we thought about it we said we should do it,” says Soter. “They are great characters and we still have a lot of material left over.”

As for plot, Soter is keeping it close to the vest, ”We came up with a really great set-up for it, so now we’re just talking to Fox about the logistics.” But don’t make your Friday night plans just yet. Soter admits, ”We still have to write the script, and we haven’t actually talked to Fox about the story yet.”

I normally don't go for the brain-dead comedy films - just not my cup of tea. Super Troopers kinda hits all the right spots by being a brain-dead comedy that's focused on genuinely intelligent jokes at times, blatantly idiotic jokes at others.

Sequel could be interesting - I didn't mind Club Dread as much as others seemed to find severe flaws in the horror-comedy. BeerFest was sort of "last summer's forgettable flick", but I *really* enjoyed Puddle Cruiser (their first film, made back in 1996)

i enjoyed beerfest, but thats it, club dread i thought was alright, but super troopers is one of my all time favourite comedies.

I love Super Troopers, it's an excellent no-brainer of a comedy and very, very quotable. A sequel would tickle me nicely, as long as they can basically do the same film with new dialogue.

ive heard they are doing it as a prequel with the parents of the characters from ST as the stars.

just watched puddle cruiser there, the scenes between paul soter and kevin heffermen where fucking brilliant, especially the court room scene.

child humour is amazing.
