| Re: History of Metal (headbangers ball) so who started heavy metal then? i think it was hendrix. some people say led zep, some say it was the kinks, some say it was just the advent of a guitar getting plugged into an amp. i think it was the latter

| Re: History of Metal (headbangers ball) I saw this at the GFT a few years back, and despite being a little "fanboy"-ish at times it is undoubtedly as good a documentary on the subject as you are EVER going to get. People will niggle at a few things here and there - particularly the "genre tree", with Cradle Of Filth under black metal and Biohazard under nu-metal, etc. - but it does a great job as a rough guide to something that is always evolving and so generally nigh impossible to pin down. It presents the history and the facts fairly, and although it is from the perspective of a "headbanger" it's not afraid to poke fun at the culture either. I'll gladly watch this again, cheers for the link.
Yer man from Gorgoroth is almost the whole reason why I utter the word 'Satan" in a monotone voice right before I take a drink, every time.

The Last album Katorz was based around riffs Piggy left on his laptop that the band found along with instructions on how to use them as he knew his time was limited, really sad to think he was writing riffs for songs he knew he would never hear finished. |
