| Re: Captain America They won't because a) it's apparently not Hank Pym and b) it's a comedy.
Come on! Directed by Edgar Wright! It'll be awesome.
I hope Wright has read Kirkman's 'The Irredeemable Ant Man'. Fried gold. |

| Re: Captain America I dunno. Ask scriptwriter Joe Cornish of Adam and Joe fame.
There have been two other Ant-Men though. Eric O'Grady and Scott Lang.
I think I read somewhere it was an entirely new character but I could just be making that up.
I get the impression that it's not going to be too tied to the existing Marvel property. More about taking the concept of a guy that can shrink and control ants and running wild with it. |

| Re: Captain America Please don't tell me he's going to be the token "funny guy" in the Avengers movie. That'll piss me off.
But fair point. I'm not really a fan of the other Antmen. It's Hank or GTFO for me.

| Re: Captain America It could still be Hank in the Avengers movie, with the Ant-Man movie being based around someone who nicks the suit/Pym particles. They could mention scientist Hank Pym as being the man behind this wondrous invention at the start and then he could be introduced properly in the Avengers movie. Or they could just completely exclude him from the Avengers movie in true 'let's all shit on Hank Pym' style.
I imagine the tone of the Ant-Man film will be wildly different from the Avengers movie and could be pretty hard to integrate. I kinda see them doing it as something separate from the other movies. I read an interview (possibly with Avi Arad) where they said they had no plans to do an Ant-Man movie but Edgar Wright expressed an interest and they greenlit it based on wanting to work with him. I don't think it's part of their big team movie game plan.
I fucking love/hate Hank Pym. It'll never happen for obvious reasons but Affleck should play him. The smug prick.
Are you reading 'The Initiative'? Both Hank and Eric get some golden moments in that series. |

I'm not no, but something tells me I should be
But again, fair points made. Hank just doesn't come across and the comic relief character. It would really shit over the Avengers movie if they do that. Saying that, I can't see it happening, but you never know *cough* Spiderman 3 *cough*.

Kirsten and I watched Spidey 3 last week. I don't care what anyone says: I love that shit. All three Spidey films turn me into a big kid and I fucking love it. Quote:

I didn't like 'Hot Fuzz' anywhere near as much but it was certainly entertaining...

Even in the context of a movie thats asking you to swallow some ridiculously illogial premises it looks fucking stupid. |

| Re: Captain America Agreed. It just seems to be a little daft that a alien symbiant would make someone dance instead of raping/pillaging/looting and generally trying to take over the world.

I found SOTD to be a bit dull when they suddenly decided they'd better figure out how to get to the end of the movie. Started well, ended poorly. Hot Fuzz was mostly boring and obvious. Those films actually make me hope that they never attempt a third series of Spaced, they're getting a bit ego-wank these days. Quote:

That's why Bat Boy The Musical needs to be turned into a film.

| Re: Captain America Nah, it doesn't do any of that stuff because Peter is an absolute f-bomb and his idea of being badass is acting like a pimp (although everyone seems to forget that he throws a bomb in his best friend's face, horribly scarring him). He's a total geek and his reaction to the suit is in keeping with that. When it latches onto someone who actually has proper negativity in his soul to amplify you end up with a big fucking monster.
I hate that the Venom shit is shoehorned into the movie at the behest of the studio and dickhead fans who have been clamouring for it since the dawn of the internets, at the expense of the stuff that actually works, but I disagree with the notion that Peter's behaviour doesn't make sense. Peter Parker's dark side is so an emo wanker, just as Eddie Brock's dark side has big fangs and claws and shit.
