Yep, the aforementioned 'The Irredeemable Ant-Man' by Robert Kirkman. Sadly cancelled. I bought it. No one else did. His only decent Marvel work.

The piano playing certainly makes no sense. Hell, musical tunings aren't even universal on this planet, how does the symbi-scrote know not only how to play the piano but what song it's playing. Parker is an emo wank, yes. But the whole band dramatically changing key and time signature purely based on hand gestures is a pile of wankness.

If a twatty little emo kid jumped up on stage at Ronnie Scott's and tried to lead the house band then he'd be tied to a pole outside for the Soho homeless posse to call "pretty" and then hump.

Heheh! I would never have thought to put Parker's heretofore unknown ability to play piano down to the symbiote. I love that idea though.

My brain has no problem with putting the unlikely musical abilities displayed by Peter in that scene down to artistic license in the pursuit of comedy, just like it does when I watch any musical. I know the disregard for internal logic displayed there bugs a lot of people, but I laughed like fuck and enjoyed it in the manner in which it was intended... In much the same way as I enjoy the humour in 'Army of Darkness' even though it completely contradicts the tone of 'The Evil Dead'.

It is, after all, a film about a guy who can climb walls and shoot webs out of his wrists.

Typically, the only element of the film which bugs me in a 'that makes no sense in the context of the other films' is the fact that Peter seems to have completely lost his Spidey Sense for most of the film. Fucking geek that I am.

Fuck, am I actually defending 'Spider-Man 3' on the internet? I need to get a fucking job.

Re: Captain America

The Evil Dead films were heavily inspired by The Three Stooges, Army Of Darkness is the film where that is most obvious but I have a documentary from the making of the first film where the comedy influence is discussed more than any horror influence. He just had to get out of that hut for the comedy tone to be fully realised.

Yeah, you're completely right, sir.

But you could say the same about the Spidey films. The first two have just as many moments of silliness as the third movie, although probably not anything that verges on the sheer fucking lunacy of the 'jazz flute' scene. It's just much more prevalent, and apparently not as funny to most people, in Spidey 3.

You've been reading too many Mark Millar comics.

I remember discussing this with you at Caitlins once and agreeing 100%. Spider-Man 3 is by far the worst of the trilogy, but it's still a cracking film that doesn't deserve half the slating it gets just for having a musical scene.

That was awesome but not as good as Nick Fury and the Punisher. Most nonsensical game ever.

Edit: Oh my lord, how fucking hard is it to have a pic of Simon Weston and the Red Skull in a post together? FUCK YOU, INTERNET. Fine, I'll go host it myself!

Re: Captain America

So do you think they're going to go with the newer CA costume once they get to that stage in the film, or will they stick to the older costume.
