As someone who absolutely loved 'Superman Returns' and really wanted to see Singer do a Superman movie now that he had the set-up out of the way... This whole thing makes me sad.

The studio absolutely loved Bryan Singer's treatment of Superman and the total financial returns it brought them.

This is the bit where, if it was 1992, I would say 'Not!'.

Martian Manhunter was my favorite. The JLA charcters were, for my money, generally larger-than-life and relatively one-dimensional compared to the likes of Batman or whatnot, so it would have to be a truly dreadful film to be a big let-down. I expect mindless entertainment with spiffy SFX and not much else.

I love Ang Lee's Hulk. Which probably goes some way to explaining why I'm not excited about this or most other superhero movies.

If they're gonna insist on doing this, it had better be the most epic shit I have ever seen cos god knows they won't have room for anything but the most basic characterisation or plot. If they're gonna make trash, it had better be the most mindblowing trash to hit a cinema so far. Green Lantern alone demands it. I'm scared they'll have him use his ring in the most unimaginative ways possible with no sense of spectacle or scale. Like, y'know, most other superhero movies

I should probably point out that unlike most other people of my generation, I fucking love the Justice League.

But the JLA movie certainly casts doubts. Big scary doubts. I'm worried they'll reboot Supes like they're doing with the Hulk.

I hope they just use it to jumpstart Supes commercially and still allow Singer to make the sequel.

Personally i hope this falls through. It's just unrealistic and i thought JLA as a comic was unrealistic as well. You couldn't have it without Batman either but the movie was such a success that they wont want to put him in it. Singer will fight to do the next Superman movie because he's a huge fan himself and i think the producers will want to put to put a punt on it.

Actually Batman wasn't in the original Justice League, he was just 'on call' for ages.
