| Charlie Wilson's War
"In the early 1980s, Charlie Wilson (Tom Hanks) is a womanizing US congressional representative from Texas who seemed to be in the minor leagues, except for the fact that he is a member of two major foreign policy and covert-ops committees. However, prodded by his major conservative supporter, Joanne Herring (Julie Roberts), Wilson learns about the plight of the people are suffering in the brutal Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. With the help of the maverick CIA agent, Gust Avrakotos (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Wilson dedicates his canny political efforts to supply the Afghan mujahideen with the weapons and support to defeat the Soviet Union. However, Charlie Wilson eventually learns that while military victory can had, there are other consequences and prices to that fight that are ignored to everyone's sorrow"
Went to the cinema last night to see this. Was a good movie. The plot and storyline coulda beeb developed better though.
Best performance in it was Philip Seymour Hoffman. Definetly the best actor in Hollywood. |

really enjoyed this. felt like a somewhat abrupt ending, right enough, but entertaining enough. PSH stole every scene he was in. Love him. | |

Hoffman's great but has a tendency to go over the top sometimes. Sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes it's not. Either way I'll be going to see this.

Its good.
Very, very good.
Ending was abrupt, but thats a whole other film.
Tom Hanks is fantastic, espescially in the final scenes.
Only thing I wasnt mad keen on - when theyre revealing the stats of how many helicopters they shot down, it meant nothing to me, because I didnt think that 30 or so helicopters were a lot. Obviously I dont know much about war, but Im sure I wasnt the only one thinking 'what about the people saved?'
