| Bond 22 - Quantum of Solace Quote:
Bond 22 is now officially Quantum of Solace, the film's producers announced today.
The movie - whose title is taken from a short story in Ian Fleming's 1960 For Your Eyes Only - has already begun shooting at Pinewood and will later go on location in Austria, Italy and Panama. It's Daniel Craig's second outing as 007, following the laudable Casino Royale.
He's joined by old hand Judi Dench as M, plus newbies Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton as Bond girls, playing the "mysterious" Camille and MI6 Agent Fields, respectively. Also on board is Mathieu Amarilic, who'll take the role of villain Dominic Greene.
As previously reported, Quantum of Solace will follow on from Casino Royale, with 007 "picking up the pieces after being double-crossed by Treasury agent Vesper Lynd".
The film is due for US release on 7 November.

?
Strange sounding title, which reminds me firmly of the above picture. I also don't like the idea the films following on directly from each other. |

| Re: Bond 22 - Quantum of Solace The "rubbish name" bandwagon better have plenty of seats cos it's gonna need them. Maybe it sounded cooler in 1960.
Also feart of the "following on", Bonds have always worked as stand alones, am I gonna have to watch Casino Royale again to know what's happening?
If they do a Matrix Reloaded then I'm staying home and watching From Russia With Love. |

| Re: Bond 22 - Quantum of Solace Everything's a fucking epic arc nowadays
But this one makes sense given how 'Casino Royale' ended, surely? I'd be a bit miffed if they just left that dangling.

| Re: Bond 22 - Quantum of Solace From what I remember Casino Royale's story finished at least a good twenty minutes before the film did.
The rest was pre-credits for another Bond - they artificially manufactured the desire to watch both films, just make the movie at hand guys people watch Bond stuff anyways no need to lead us by the hand from one to the other.
It's not as if chronoligical order was ever important beforehand, and, I mean, what are they trying to do? Get all emo on us and develop the character of Bond into a complex personality with conflicting loyalties & motivations?

I've never seen a Bond film other than Casino Royale, which I fucking loved so I get the benefit of watching the new one and not having to moan about how they aren't like the old ones. Yaaaaaaay. |

| Re: Bond 22 - Quantum of Solace Goes without saying I'll be front of the queue for this.
I'm also a bit wary of the continuation idea, although its something they were touting for Die Another Day, with Michael Madsen's Falco becoming a recurring character (a latter day equivalent to General Gogol from the Moore era?) and possibly a recurring villain as well. Obviously with the reboot that was delayed but it should be known that this is not an idea that was exclusively for this film. Although I'm a massive fan of all things Bond, let's face facts - the old storylines simply wouldn't work today. I mean, imagine You Only Live Twice done in the new Millenium. Not a chance. The films have to evolve, and although, yes, the Craig direction concerns me a bit I'll approach this assuming the positive. Sort of. Casino Royale was fantastic, anyway.
