| Re: The Happening Holy shit. This is one terrible, terrible film. I really should have known better, just because The 6th Sense was good, does NOT mean this will be good too, Signs, The Village etc etc etc should have taught me that already.

| Re: The Happening - M. Night Shyamalan's new film. Why have so many people felt the urge to inform the world of a new M. Knight Shimalyan film?
Half the posts in this thread are merged announcements, has he made a film that anyone with a mental age over five has enjoyed this decade? |

| Re: The Happening - M. Night Shyamalan's new film. Just watched that..... unfortunately the most attractive thing about it was the advisory on the certificate..... "Contains frequent images of suicide and moderate bloody injury" there was a couple of oww-yah moments when there were bodies plummeting from the building site at the start and getting high-speed dirt, but it wasn't nearly graphic enough, and a lot of the deaths were look this is gonna happen, look, look, then shot changes and you just get the audio if at all...... maybe they spent all the fx budget on hundreds of great big fans to make all the fucking wind.... and then it turned into fucking preachy eco-bullshit..... and the female lead... (Zooey Deschanel , you're having a giraffe!) .... I've not seen her in anything else before that I remember, but I've seen better acting and character development in pornos.... so either she's a pish actress, or she's really good and was trying to portray someone who's pish.
* doogie resolves to go back to just d/ling as at least if you switch it off after 20 mins you're not down money and far from your house!

| Re: The Happening - M. Night Shyamalan's new film. re: Zooey Deschanel, she's had leading or major supporting character roles in the following in the last 3 years or so:
-- Trillian in the recent Hitchiker's Guide film
-- Dorothy in the recent miniseries "Tin Man" (a new take on the Wizard of Oz)
-- Weeds (season three - lead chick's brother's psychotic girlfriend)
-- Bridge to Terabithia (schoolteacher)
-- Failure to Launch (SJP's roommate)
-- Elf (love interest)
Asides from the Tin Man role (and I can't comment on Elf or Failure to Launch), she's generally portraying some space-age hippy chick |

Which I thought worked brilliantly in signs. I actually really liked the fact it wasn't graphic as I hate gore in films but do like a scary/jumpy movie.
I may be the only person that actually liked this film, no twists at the end, just a simple story that I thought was quite good. Not Shyamalan's best by a mile though.
