| The Forbidden Kingdom (Jackie Chan, Jet Li) Quote: |
A 21st Century American teenager takes a spellbinding, dangerous journey into martial arts legend in the new action/adventure epic FORBIDDEN KINGDOM. Shot on location in China, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM marks the historic first-ever onscreen pairing of martial arts superstars Jackie Chan (RUSH HOUR, DRUNKEN MASTER) and Jet Li (FEARLESS, ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA), and features the awe-inspiring action choreography of Wo Ping (THE MATRIX, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON). While hunting down bootleg kung-fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason (played by Michael Angarano - “24”, “Will and Grace,” LORDS OF DOGTOWN, SEABISCUIT) makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China. There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk (Jet Li). But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.

The Jackie Chan/Jet Li fight scene alone will be worth the price of admission. |

This film's actually better than it should be, mainly due to the exuberance of Chan and even Jet Li comes alive a little from his usual plank self. Jackie hasn't made a film this fun since I dunno. Good laughs and fights can make you ignore the Hollywood tosh. Once the white guy steps through the 'gate' at the end though you'd might aswell leave. Style wise it's like Carry On Iron Monkey with a smidgen of Chinese Odyessy movies. |

Had no plans to watch it as I thought it looked awful on the trailers. I was pleasantly surprised though. It was really fun and your comments above are pretty much what I felt. Glad I went really. I might have had to endure Brendon Fraser if I hadn't forgotten to wear my contacts.

| Re: The Forbidden Kingdom (Jackie Chan, Jet Li) The plot's pathetically weak, and I couldn't have given a toss about that Sparrow lassie at all.
Li and Chan and the fight scenes are outstanding as is the general homage theme to the kung fu greats of old. |

| Re: The Forbidden Kingdom (Jackie Chan, Jet Li) I actually quite liked this. Though if you go to see a masterfull plot you'll be dissapointed. This 1 doens't need a masterfull plot, however
