LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Veteran screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan has been hired to write "Robotech," Warner Bros.' adaptation of the anime classic.
"Robotech" was a 1980s cartoon series from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Prods. It was re-edited and re-dialogued to combine three Japanese anime series to give the producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series.
A sprawling sci-fi epic, "Robotech" takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions
| Now THIS is more like it.... just dont make it a kids film and we'll be OK.

I'm guessing they'll try to make it like Speed Racer though... |

In retrospect, Rick looks suspiciously like a Klaxon. |

| Re: Robotech As a child, I couldn’t have cared less that it was licensed from a Japanese company and given different stickers. Jetfire was still the single coolest toy I owned.

| Re: Robotech Ffnar
The toys did come from the same mold, except Jetfire had a different head every so often than the one shown above.
Not got mine to hand, it's boxed and in storage, but IIRC it's about 12" tall in robot mode.
( Trivia : It's because of the Robotech cartoon's copyright ownership of the design that Jetfire was replaced with a more angular character named "Skyfire" in the Transformers cartoon. ) |
