i didn't get it. is it one of those magic eye films were you're meant to look through the movie and see the metaphors? i clung onto one at the beginning, the worship of oil vs faith but that didn't last long. plus the soundtrack guy sounded bored he kept doing psycho moments when nothing scary was happening like here's a picture of a barren landscape dang dang dang dang

anyone get this film? please enlighten me

btw daniel day lewis's performance was brilliant what an excellent actor he is

You have to understand how the protagonist would react in a bilateral situation before you understand how the protagonist acts in a multilateral situation. The condition of the characters before and after the denouement is telling too. Watch out for scenes when unusual downward tonal inflections are used mid-sentence by supporting characters. This gives a lot away.

To expect this from the director (bearing in mind the plot of the film) would be like expecting a man to pull an orange from a filing cabinet while, in a separate room, a magician pulls a document from a hat.
