| Carry On... Films: Good or Bad?
Just watching the tail end of Carry on... Up the Khyber while I'm waiting for Sixth Sense to come on, and I was wondering what the forum opinion of the film series was.
Generally folks seem to have a love it or hate it relationship with them.
I quite like them. They make nice weekend afternoon viewing, although some of them are shockingly bad. |

The jokes are mostly rubbish. Some good bits and pieces.
That said, they all have some strange sort of charm.

Mel Brooks is great when he works with people who are funnier than he is, like Richard Pryor on 'Blazing Saddles'.
'Carry On...' films are shite, but Kenneth Williams is the bomb.

But he was far better in the Ealing Comedies he did before Carry On.
In fact, quite a lot of the regular Carry On cast were better in the Ealing Comedies then they were in Carry On. | |
