| 'Wheel Of Time' Series headed for the big screen
I dont know the series of books, but I'm sure someone here might be excited by this... Quote:
Universal Pictures has acquired film rights to the late Robert Jordan's bestselling "The Wheel of Time" novel series in a seven-figure deal.
Adaptations of the fantasy tomes will begin with the first book in the cycle, "The Eye of the World."
Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will produce for Red Eagle Entertainment, which published graphic novel adaptations of Jordan's books.
"The Wheel of Time" follows, among its dozens of characters, Rand al’Thor, the latest incarnation of a force for good called "The Dragon." Rand is born to fight an evil character called Shai’tan.
"Wheel of Time" books have sold 44 million copies worldwide and spawned computer, trading-card and role-playing games; a soundtrack; comicbooks; and numerous fan sites. The four most recent installments have reached No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Could be interesting. There had been rumours of a movie deal for ages.
I like the wheel of time, but there are better fantasy series out there. (for example im much more excited about A Song of Ice and Fire being made into a tv series).
I think there is definitely scope there for some good movies, though they need to be careful with the first 2 as they are very close in themes to lord of the rings. (they do diversify a lot more later on, but eye of the world is quite similar to lotr). | |

i tend to disagree, for one its a man that is "chosen" and not an item.
however with the first book i thought it hard to get into, there gonna cut the sotry alot though so they can fit it into movies, which will be a shame.
